I eat more cannoli in the US then I do in Italy. Food is so so regional here, and since I’m in the central/north it’s hard to find cannoli (Sicilian) and impossible to find granita (also Sicilian).
So after being in Italy for almost two three months I finally had my first cannoli abroad. I wanted to wait for my Sicily trip, which wasn’t too difficult since food is so so regional here- there aren’t many pastry shops that sell cannoli in my city.
However, fate was against me…I had an awful sore throat and couldn’t really taste anything. Obviously, a return cannoli pilgrimage is in order.

Oddly enough in Northern Italian cannoli aren’t super popular. I’ve only seen them once so far in a pastry shop, and they looked pretty ignored.
I’ve been dying to try these cannolis ! Might have to make that trip to Carlo’s Bakery. ;)

i think i like the sandwich version better than the taco…
the filling is:
about 1 & 1/2cupsof ricotta cheese to 1/2 cup powdered sugar
a capfull of vanilla & some orange peel - blended with a hand-blender
smear some on a pizelle & add mini chocolate chips & another pizelle & you have a cannoli sandwich…
perfect cure for a bad day!
